The Ironman Wrestling Club met one of its main goals as the team finished ninth overall out of nearly 70 teams that competed April 20 and 21. The team featured 16 athletes from Cedar City and Parowan who competed in all three styles of wrestling – folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman.
Six athletes won individual state titles in their respective disciplines. They were:
-Jaxten Bowler for freestyle and Greco-Roman.
-Gavin Carter for freestyle.
-Julia Kay for girls freestyle.
-Gabe Lake for Greco-Roman.
-Brady Lowry for freestyle and Greco-Roman.
-Limoni Matakaiongo for freestyle.
“We aren’t one of the biggest clubs, but we can compete,” head coach Dallas Lowry said. “It’s the dedication of the athletes and parents that makes this team so great.”
Jaxten Bowler moved on the following week to compete for Team Utah at the Western Regionals. He swept to gold medals in all three styles of wrestling.
