CEDAR CITY–Southern Utah Children’s Choir recently returned from a performance in Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The choir has performed all over southern Utah and in honor of it’s 5th season decided to take the show on the road. The summer season is always one of fun and excitement. The singers and their families rallied and raised funds and planned and prepared and had a wonderful experience.
Southern Utah Children’s choir is a non-profit organization formed to provide children and youth of Southern Utah with the chance to learn and perform choral music of the utmost quality.
Melissa Leavitt, choir director, stated that the Southern Utah Children’s Choir is actually two choirs serving youth from ages five to teens. “
We are excited to be able to represent Cedar City and the surrounding communities wherever we perform,” she said in a release. “The Cedar Valley area has an incredible arts community. One of our goals is to teach youth to give back to their community using all of their talents. It’s exciting to see the growth in our singers both musically and as human beings who reach out in exciting ways.”
The choir will cap off its summer season with a performance in the Orchestra of Southern Utah’s Recital Series on September 12 at the Heritage Theater at 7 p.m.
The choir’s new season of rehearsals will begin on September 20. New singers are always welcome. For information on the Southern Utah Children’s Choir, call 435-592-3665.
