The Family Support Center of Southwestern Utah is hosting its third annual art contest for elementary school children grades 3-5 at the Cedar City Library in the Park. The theme of the contest was “My Family Grows Stronger When…” Over 100 students submitted original interpretations of this theme.
“Art is a healthy way for children to express their emotions and things that are important to them. The depictions of families doing relationship strengthening activities is important because reminds parents of the things that matter most to kids” said Connie Sowards, Executive Director of the Family Support Center. Every child who participated was given a prize. Thirteen pieces will be chosen to be made into a 12-month school calendar. The art show can be viewed in the children’s section of the library throughout the month of April for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
