`It was runners vs. rotters in Cedar City’s first ever Zombie 5K fun-run on Oct. 8. Participants signed up as survivors or zombies as they made their way to the finish line, which was literally a ‘dead’-end.
Wearing very realistic make-up, zombies chased their prey, who were wearing blue flags, which the zombies tried to capture as the runners navigated terrain and tunnels seeking safety to avoid becoming a meal of delicious brains.
The Zombie 5K was the ‘brain’-child of Cameron Christensen, Economic Development Coordinator, and was in partnership with Bryan Dangerfield, Director of Leisure Services and Events. In the end, there were plenty of survivors—brains intact—and the Zombie 5K is hoped to be an annual apocalypse of cerebral gratification for many years to come.
