CEDAR CITY – Bianca Gabriela Lozoya Vega arrived at 9:41 p.m. on New Year’s Day and is Valley View Medical Center’s 2010 Baby New Year.

Bianca weighed in at an even 8 pounds and is 20 inches tall.

Bianca is the daughter of Maritza Vega and Ivan Lozoya of Beaver. Maritza Vega said she was thrilled that her new daughter is 2010’s Baby New Year.

“It’s really exciting to have Bianca be the first baby of the New Year,” she said. “We’re both tired, but feeling pretty good.”

Valley View Medical Center presented the family of Baby New Year a gift package that included a variety of baby care items.

“We’re always excited to start the New Year with the first baby born at Valley View,” said Caralee Lyon, Women’s Services Manager at Valley View. “Every baby is a miracle and we look forward to many more in 2010.”

Although Bianca is the first new arrival at the hospital in 2010, nearly 900 babies were born at Valley View in 2009.
