He served his country with pride and honor in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
After the war, he met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Eva Mae Smith while planning an M Men & Gleaner Girl dance in the home of President Harold B. Lee, who later performed their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He faithfully served his Heavenly Father in several church callings including Stake Missionary, Ward Clerk, Seventies Quorum Leader, and Counselor in the Bishopric.
He is survived by his children, Dennis (Jacque), D. Allen (Patricia), Jerry (Colleen) and Marianne; his pride and joy, 15 grandchildren – Jason, Tamra, Matthew, Bryan, Julianne, Sarah, Scott, Debra, Brandon, Jennie, Danny, Andrew, Troy, Rebecca and Nathan; and 35 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer 26th Ward Chapel, 1145 W. 5th South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be at the chapel Wednesday, July 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
