Meals on Wheels needs volunteers

CEDAR CITY—The Cedar Senior Center is in need of volunteers to be delivery drivers for its Meals on Wheels program. A driver is needed for Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until around 12:30 p.m. The volunteers will deliver a fresh cooked meal to seniors who are home bound or cannot get out of their homes on their own.

If a set schedule does not work for you, volunteers are also needed as substitutes or fill-in drivers who cannot deliver on their Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday assigned days. This would depend only on your schedule and willingness to deliver on that particular day.

This is a very rewarding opportunity as the seniors are very appreciative for this great service. A vehicle with automatic transportation is provided, and volunteers must have a valid Utah driver’s license. Also, a background and drug screening check are both required. These checks are arranged and paid for by Iron County. Without the volunteers, this service would not be possible.
