CEDAR CITY–Suzuki Strings Cedar City is excited to announce there are openings for students who would are interested in performance opportunities for the violin, viola and cello.
To give an introduction to the group and the program, parents and families interested are invited to a parent orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. in the SUU Music Building, room 206. The student program offered by Suzuki Strings is designed to give performance opportunities from beginning through advanced. The group sponsors a regional workshop and fall concert, as well as performances at community events.
Members of Suzuki Strings have providing music for many church and community events and have participated with the Piano Guys a SUU and with visiting groups from Salt Lake City. Many students who participate are also involved with their public school orchestras.
The group offers training with violin, viola and cello for ages three to adult. Group lessons are also offered weekly during the school year. Director Sara Penny said in a press release the group has many openings for students and the instructors have received additional training.
“We are excited to have teachers available in all of the instruments this year,” she said. “Amy Gold, Heather Wilhelm and Samantha Herring took teacher training at the Intermountain Institute and have openings for students. We are thrilled to have good teachers with openings because some years everyone is fully booked.”
