Earlier today, deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary in Old Iron Town.
The suspect, identified as Christian Holbert, 24, kicked in the front door of a home while two homeowners were present. Holbert did not respond when the homeowners ordered him to leave, so the homeowners felt threatened and as a result was shot multiple times with a handgun.
After he was shot, Holbert attempted to get up from the ground. While still inside the home, he was naked and behaving irrationally. He left the residence and was located nearby by deputies. A taser was deployed multiple times because Holbert was still non-compliant, but had little impact on the suspect.
Holbert was finally subdued and taken into custody. He was treated on scene by Gold Cross Ambulance and transported via Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Holbert is stable but in serious condition.
The homeowners are not facing charges at this time. Holbert will be charged after the investigation in concluded.
