Annual Festival of Homes starts Sept. 1

CEDAR CITY–The Iron County Home Builders Association’s (ICHBA) annual Festival of Homes will begin on Friday, Sept 1.  This will be the 22th year holding a home show, with the first one held in 1995. 

The Festival of Homes is a showcase for ICHBA Builder Members to display their best work for the public. Builder Members are joined by Associate Members in providing very attractive and innovative Festival entries.  Along with new homes, this year the Festival will include a renovation after fire, and extensive remodel with large edition – complete rebuild, and a Special Feature – a large event center (The Barn). 

The Festival will present 13 entries constructed by association members that incorporate some of the best in home design, technology, materials, décor, and building techniques. Beginning at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1, the Festival will continue through Labor Day Sept. 4, then begin again on Friday, Sept. 8 and run until Sunday evening, Sept. 10. 

Here is the daily schedule:

Friday, Sept. 1 – 1 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 2 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 3 – 1 to 8 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 4 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Labor Day)
Friday, Sept. 8 – 1 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 9 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 10 – 1 to 8 p.m.

Tickets will be available for purchase for $10 each at branches of State Bank of Southern Utah beginning Aug. 26, at the festival website:, and during the Festival at the Coldwell Banker Advantage office downtown Cedar City.

The entries in 2017 have been submitted by Iron County HBA members: Nathan Thayer – Iron Gate Custom Homes; Tom Braun – Braun Construction; Joey Church – Church Construction; Mac Urie – Roy Talmage Builders;  Jake Hulet – Jake Hulet Construction; Heath Oveson – Go Civil Engrineering; Alex Meisner – Meisner Construction; Barry Church – Mesa Hills Development, Spencer Jones – Velocity Homes; and Logan Obering – Alliance Development. Also on display in these entries homes will be the latest in interior and exterior design including furniture, appliances, floor coverings, window treatments, electronics, paint, wall paper, lighting, cabinets and fixtures, doors and windows, concrete, fencing, landscaping, etc., available from associated businesses.  Visitors will be able to vote during the Festival of Homes for the best home, best interior design, best garage exhibitor, and best landscaping.
