CEDAR CITY– The Iron Giants Mountain Bike Team, a composite team of middle and high school students in Iron County, will be holding signups for the 2018 race season on May 16 and May 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Cedar City Aquatic Center. All skill levels are welcome, there are no tryouts, and everybody rides.
“I love being an Iron Giant,” said Zoe Knudsen, student athlete. “Riding with friends and hanging out with the team on race day is really fun.”
Danny and Ginger Hall are the Iron Giants’ head coaches and have over eight years of experience coaching teams in Utah and Texas. Originally from Texas, the Halls moved to Cedar City in 2014 to enjoy all the outdoor opportunities the area offers.
“Our main goal has always been to get more kids on bikes,” said Ginger Hall. “We are thrilled to be headed into our third season as a team, and excited to meet more kids who love to ride.”
During the 2018 season, team members will have the opportunity to race in cities across Utah, including Kamas, Richfield, Moab, Cedar City, and St. George. Participating in races is encouraged, but not required of student athletes.
The team is looking for financial support from local businesses. Team sponsorships are available and help student athletes with the support they need to thrive during the race season.
The Iron Giants are part of the Utah High School Cycling League and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) league. For more information firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.facebook.com/IronCountyMTB.
