PAROWAN–A high-speed chase that began on Wednesday morning with an attempted traffic stop in Parowan resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in Colorado. According to UHP Trooper Steven Esplan, the driver of a pickup led the trooper through Parowan, back on to the I-15 freeway and then back into Parowan. The truck was finally stopped on SR143 in Parowan Canyon. A woman in the truck remained at the stop, while the male fled down into the stream bed making his way into Parowan.
Using a person’s phone he arranged to obtain another vehicle. The vehicle was spotted on the frontage road near Summit and the chase began again, at a high rate of speed through Parowan for a second time. Spike strips brought the vehicle to a stop after disabling it near Parowan Park.
The wanted man was taken into custody. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the subject was armed. Report and photo by Craig Bennett/Iron County Today
