BREAKING: Wyoming man arrested for vandalism, robbery in Cedar City
CEDAR CITY—A 28-year-old Wyoming resident was arrested and charged with several offenses after multiple policing agencies worked to apprehend him in Cedar City.
Talon Sessions, a resident of Thayne, Wyoming, was booked and charged with nine different offenses, ranging from Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary, both first degree felonies, to auto theft, burglary, discharging firearms, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and fugitive from justice.
In a release from the Cedar City Police Department, the office received a call Wednesday night form a witness at Cedar High School who reported hearing someone inside the school smashing and breaking things. Officers set up a containment area around the school, but school officials and officers cleared the school without finding a suspect.
School video showed a single, white male suspect who “appeared to be carrying a handgun. It also showed him firing the gun inside the school, and evidence showed he had fired into two windows. Additionally, the suspect fired into the locking mechanism of an interior door,” the release said.
A short time later, officers were notified of a “car-jacking” in progress at an address on the 900 East block of Parkway Dr. The release said this suspect matched the description of the suspect observed inside the school. Officers responded to that area and found the armed suspect had entered an unlocked home and was confronted by the homeowner. At gunpoint, the suspect stole keys from the victim and started leaving in the victim’s vehicle. He abandoned the vehicle a short distance away and fled on foot. The suspect entered one other home and took a bottle of orange juice from the fridge then left.
“There were at least four other attempts to enter homes and cars, as residents reported hearing someone trying to enter their homes and vehicles in the area were found with the doors open,” the department release said. “Officers from all over Iron County responded to assist. There were officers from the Cedar City Police Department, Enoch City Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Parowan City Police Department, SUU Public Safety and the Utah Highway Patrol.”
The suspect was ultimately located and arrested at about 400 E. Hillside Drive in Cedar City. He was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance and later booked into the Iron County Jail. The investigation is still active and more information may be forthcoming.
