CEDAR CITY–A body was found after the Cedar City Police Department, Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to 911 calls reporting a structure fire Sunday evening.

Officials arrived within four minutes to a residential home in the 2200 North block of Red Cedar Circle that was flooded with flames. After no contact was able to be made with anyone in the home, officers shut off the gas and power to the home. The fire department began suppression efforts while officers evacuated neighboring residences.

While suppression efforts continued, special equipment was called to knock down a wall and remove rubble in order to make sure any remaining hot spots were extinguished. During the process of removing the rubble, the body of a deceased male was found. Investigators found evidence that suggests the subject may have died from suicide.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
