Canyon View FFA attends statewide event

Special for Iron County Today

CEDAR CITY–Members of the Canyon View FFA chapter along with other members from around the state participated in the Utah FFA State Career Development event April 17-19. The event took place at Utah State University in Logan.

Members from Canyon View High School and Cedar High School participated in Livestock Judging, Floriculture, Marketing Plan, Veterinary Science, Ag Sales, and Ag Mechanics. The CV Marketing Plan took 1st place in the state. The team members included MaKella Steffensen, Sadie Webster, and Kaylee Hopkins. For this contest the team members created a marketing plan for Staheli West and presented it to a panel of judges. The Marketing plan team will be proudly representing the state of Utah at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.

This will be Sadie Webster and Kaylee Hopkins second year competing at National Convention. Last year, both competed in Agricultural Sales with Isaac Sandoval and Shawn Adams. We appreciate Dave Staheli, Logan Staheli and Spencer Douglas for continually supporting Canyon View FFA and helping them be successful by teaching them all aspects of their business. Also, thank you to their coaches Ceirra Reid (who competed at Nationals in Marketing Plan in 2015) and Taryn Roundy (who also competed at National in 2015 in Agricultural Communications).

The FFA Alumni is looking for sponsors to help the Marketing Plan team and their coaches with expenses for National Convention. If anyone is willing to donate, please contact cvffaalumni@gmail.com. It would be greatly appreciated. The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education. Today, there are 653,359 FFA members, in 8,568 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (FFA.org).
