Jana Marie Hyer
Jana Marie Hyer passed from this mortal life on Monday, June 5, 2017. She was born June 8, 1968 in Cedar City, Utah, the middle child of Marvin R. and Brenda M. Hyer.
Jana attended North Elementary, Cedar Middle, and Cedar High School. At the age of 17 she moved to Boston Massachusetts where she was a nanny for two wonderful families that she loved dearly. Upon returning to Cedar City, she attended Evan’s Hairstyling College and then returned to Boston to begin her career. She often referred to Boston as her home away from home and shared wonderful memories of her time spent there.
August 8, 1992 was the day that she referred to as the best day in her life, the day her son Jordan was born. Jordan is her pride and joy and she was happy for everyone to know that. Jana and Jordan returned, for good, to live in Cedar City in 1998 where she continued her work as a hairstylist and also as a substitute teacher for the Iron County School District.
Jana’s contagious laugh, quick wit, and sense of humor will be missed by many. She was a friend to the lonely and would give her last dime to anyone in need.
Jana is survived by her son, Jordan C. Hyer, parents Marvin R. and Brenda M. Hyer, siblings Andy (Ellene) Hyer and Amy Humphries, as well as 12 nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and brother-in-law, Randy Humphries.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar North Stake Center, 95 N. 2125 W. Cedar City, Utah. A viewing was held prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
