Layne wouldn’t want a bunch of flowery stuff written about him. He was a hard-working, truck driving man who retired after 28 years with Yellow Freight. The last six years he worked at the Hurricane Walmart Tire and Lube where he made many friends, co-workers and customers alike. When he wasn’t working, Layne enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne, baseball and golf. He also liked being outdoors, exploring Utah on ATVs or on his horse, and on the golf course. He valued a good dog and had a few of his own over the years. He really liked when visitors came to the house. He also really liked it when they left, and gave him his space back. He had a way with people and could shoot the breeze with the best of ‘em.
Layne was born October 3, 1952 in Cedar City, Utah to Alexander Peter Spevak and Maxine Snow. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kristine Berrett Spevak; their Shih Tzu, Paco; his beloved daughters: Cobie and Allyson (Josh); former wife, Vicki Townsend; stepchildren: Dawn McCary (Bryan), Dan Brems, and Dayn Brems; nine grandchildren; siblings: Lana Smith (Gene), John Spevak (Claudine), and Richard Spevak (Julie); in-laws: Dick and Ede Berrett; brother-in-law, Rick Berrett; sisters-in-law: Shelly Johnson (Alden), Barbara Berrett and Becky Andrews (Todd); and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, tune up your car and rotate your tires…he would have wanted that.
Memorial services were held Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Hurricane, Utah.
