Karen Wright Denhalter peacefully passed away on August 11, 2018 surrounded by her family in her home in St. George, UT. She was 87 years old. She was born April 15, 1931 in Ogden, UT. She married John E. Denhalter, Jr. on July 15, 1949. They were married for 67 years.
She worked on her college education as much of her life a busy homemaker allowed by taking night classes for 15 years until she matriculated full-time when her youngest child started elementary school. She graduated with her B.A. dual major of Education and English from Weber State University. She taught English in middle school for more than 20 years. She was an accomplished pianist, poet, journalist, storyteller, LDS doctrine and scriptural student, genealogist, temple worker, and master teacher. She and her husband served a mission in Samoa. Most recently, she and her husband lived in Parowan, UT for 13 years, then St. George, UT 12 years.
She is survived by four children, Scot, Jenifer Fondren, Thom, and Matt; and daughters-in-law Jackie Caldwell Denhalter Blair and Jennifer Hunter Denhalter, 17 grandkids, and 25 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way. She is preceded in death by her son Paul, grandson John Paul Denhalter and great-grandson Brigham Paul Denhalter.
Her memorial service was August 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Morningside Stake Center, 881 South River Road, St George, UT under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
