Alice Olson

After a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer, Alice (Ali) Donna Rourke Olson passed away peacefully September 18, 2017, in her home in Cedar City, Utah.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 24, 1955, she graduated from Windsor Locks High School in Windsor Locks, Connecticut in 1974. After moving to California, she graduated from Cosmetology College in 1975 and established Hair Cycle with partners Akimi and Ricki, where she styled hair for 20 years, making many life-long friends.

She married Christopher Carl Olson on August 20, 1994. They operated Hoot and Hollar (Good Food for your Dollar) in Marysvale, Utah, for seven years. She honed her culinary skills by cooking for Adrianna’s in Cedar City and at a home for the handicapped in St Augustine, Florida. She was baptized a member of the LDS Church in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her parents Justin Richard Rourke and Ingeberg Nee Steding and is survived by the love of her life Chris, her sister Katheen Monaco of St. Augustine, her brother Patrick Rourke of San Diego, three nieces, two great-grandnieces and two great-grandnephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, at the Cedar West Stake Center ,725 South 1100 West at 11 a.m., under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services. Online condolences can be sent to her memorial book at
